Rooted By Design are passionate about seeing Black people live abundant and healthier lives and are dedicated to decolonising design & reimagining its role and value in enabling better outcomes for Black communities.
RBD have partnered with Impact on Urban Health to explore what it means to improve health outcomes by championing the ecosystem that provides Black communities with work, housing and finance opportunities.
Yemí was invited to participate in one of three workshops which sought to answer the following question: How might we support Black community organisations and organisers to support Black people (particularly in Lambeth & Southwark) with abundance in work, finances and housing?

Curated by HomeGrownPlus+ this initiative is an online design workshop that questions the politics of power & space through fashion and architecture.
Participants take part in a two-day design-through-making workshop in which they will develop the tools, language and critical thinking required to create wearable architecture.
The final pieces are exhibited as an online exhibition.
The Programme asks participants to work in groups to develop a piece of wearable architecture. We encourage iteration and experimentation to find design solutions, through making, drawing and communication. the workshop encourages a development in spatial thinking and consideration of sustainability in relation to fashion. Yemí was one of the tutors for the 2020 workshop.
